Miller and Beatrice Hobson Obituary

Miller Nathan "Hobby" Hobson died on July 20, 2004 in Granada Hills CA at the age of 86. He was born in Mt. Cuba, DE on August 28, 1917 to Florence and Wilmer Hobson in the family farmhouse, now covered by the Hoopes Reservoir. He served with the 198th Coast Artillery Regiment in the South Pacific during World War II and was stationed in California, where he met his future wife, Peg McNichol. Hobby worked for close family friend Nathan Miller until he opened Hobby's Music Store in Kennett Square. In 1950 he and Peg moved back to California, where Hobby earned his A.A. degree in Business, working for various engineering firms, and retiring in 1982.

Peg Hobson, 89, née Beatrice Whitcomb McNichol, died on September 28, 2010 in Northridge, CA. Born on September 24, 1921 in Wausau, WI to Ralph and Ida McNichol, Peg earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 1943 and began a teaching career in California. She married Miller Hobson in 1944 and returned with him to Pennsylvania to start a family. She retired after 30 years as a teacher in California.

Peg & Hobby leave behind son Jim Hobson, Seattle, WA; daughter Carol Scott (Steve), Bishop, CA; grandchildren Erika Scott (John Varga), Oakland, CA and Adrian Scott (Amber), Seattle WA; Peg's sister Gerry Belzer (Burt), Torrance, CA; and brother Howard Hobson, Wilmington.

Peg will be buried next to her husband at the Lower Brandywine Cemetery in Wilmington on October 23, at 2 pm.
